Kielce win derby against Rhein Neckar Lowen!

In the match of the week Vive Tauron Kielce and Rhein-Neckar Löwen gave their fans quite a lot of excitement. The Polish team took the 28:27 victory but the final result was not decided until the last seconds.

Both team began the game playing a bit sloppy and making all kinds of errors in attack but Kielce came away unscathed and in the 8. minute they led by two goals (4:2). Löwen struggled in the attack as their opponents stayed strong in defence forcing the referees to rise hands and signal passive play. The two-goal-edge was held for some time until Stefan Kneer was sent off on the bench for 2 minutes. Andre Schmid entered the court as a libero and tried to score by himself; unfortunately for him he failed both times and instead of losing by two, his team was losing by four in the 19. minute (9:5 for Kielce). However, the hosts didn’t manage to keep this advantage and three minutes later the gap was only one goal. In the meantime coach Duyshebaev received a yellow card for protests after one of the decisions of referees. The refs didn’t like his behaviour but the crowd seemed to share the coach’s opinion and expressed it quite firmly. In the 27. minute Uwe Gensheimer had a chance to get his team on the lead but failed to score a penalty twice in a row. The end of the first half was not the best time for Kielce attack but due to mistakes of the German team they managed to finish leading by two (12:10).
