Xavi Sabate leads Hungarian national team!

Hungary got a new national team head-coach – Xavi Sabate! After Talant Dujshebaev, another Spaniard will lead the team, who missed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio. The current MVM Veszprem coach decided to accept dual role in the next few months with the only goal – to beat Serbia at World Championship 2017 Play-Off and qualify for France.

Before June, Sabate will have chance to test his players only in April, when Hungary will meet France in friendly matches.

-Our focus is to qualify for the World Championship, so rejuvenation isn’t in our plans right now – said Sabate on official presentation.

His assistant coach will be promoted soon, and will be Hungarian.

Sabate is in Hungary since 2012, firstly as assistant of Antonio Carlos Ortega in Veszprem, and then, as the first coach since September 2015.
