FC Barcelona Intersport, Liga Asobal Champion, and BM Atletico Madrid, Copa del Rey Champion, will clash this saturday (18.00 pm.) in one of the best handball matches that can be seen around the world. The two most important teams in Spain, and two of the best clubs in Europe, will fight for the XXVII Supercopa ASOBAL.
Like last year, the match will be played in Palacio Vistalegre, Atletico’s home. In that edition of the Supercopa, with the same teams, the attendance record in a handball match in Spain was beaten with 11,963 spectators. Later, during the same season, that record was beaten again when “rojiblancos” and “azulgranas” clashed again in the Liga ASOBAL. That time, 12,743 handball fans went to Vistalegre.
Two squads full of stars, the two biggest cities in Spain, two huge football clubs supporting both projects, the first time that Arpad Sterbik will play against his former team, Ivano Balic’s debut with Atletico Madrid, the first Spanish handball title at stake… There are a lot of strong reasons to think that this is not a regular match. Four days before the match, 6,000 tickets have been sold. Now, the question is: is the record in danger again?
