Diego Simonet to miss tournament in Brazil

Yesterday during the radio program Handball de Primera, coach Eduardo Gallardo confirmed that Diego Simonet will not be in Brazil for the ‘Four Nations’ friendly tournament due to his ankle injury. The Argentinian has not been training normally yet as his ankle is still swallowed. After the routine studies, a ligament injury has been discarded, however, Gallardo does not want to force his comeback, and hopes his club Montpellier does the same and make him skip the game on Thursday against Nimes for the French League. Montpellier is currently leader on the D1 and Simonet is a very important piece for his team, which is also fighting strong in group C of the Champions League. Argentina will face the friendly tournament without one of his most valuable players, but prefers to have him completely fit for January when they take part of the World Championship in Qatar, and avoid to have him half cured like in Spain 2013.

A goalkeeper will fill Simonet’s spot in Brazil. His name is Juan Bar, currently playing in Argentina for SAG Polvorines.
