Dissapointed Kielce: Too many mistakes and Saric

Dissapointment among the Polish champions from Vive Tauron Kielce. Their second defeat in the second appearance at the VELUX EHF Champions League FInal 4 agains the same rival – FC Barcelona. Headcoach Talant Dujshebaev commented after the match:

– Of course I cannot be satisfied with the final result. I congratulate Barcelona and I wish them luck in the final. I think we made too many mistakes, especially in the first half. My team made six very simple mistakes then and Barcelona used them for fastbreaks. The second half was a little better but Danijel Sarić appeared in the goal and saved 10 throws within 15-20 minutes. We we fighting during this match; having been in a difficult situation, we were able to catch up with the opponent but in the end we were not able to win.

Piotr Chrapkowski:

– Of course I congratulate Barcelona on the victory. We played bad in the link-up play in attack, especially in the first half – we made too many mistakes then. In the first half we played a little better, especially in defence, when we get a couple fastbreaks. Later it was goal-for-goal play. In the last 15 minutes, Danijel Sarić was doing great in the goal while we were losing our chance to catch up. Barcelona made use of a couple fastbreaks at the end and won.

Ivan Čupić:

– In the first half we lost a lot of goals from the centre and because of fastbreaks. We had problems with changes because Julen Aginagalde, who is injured, wasn’t able to leave the court quickly.
We did what we could and we fought until the end. We hit goalposts a couple times, Saric save a couple balls, we lacked a little luck. That’s a pity… Now we want to focus on the 3rd place match and finish the season with a victory.

Grzegorz Tkaczyk:

– We did our best today. With a team such as Barcelona, you need to play perfectly. We made too many mistakes and they made use of them. Barcelona was better and they won deservedly.

Michał Jurecki:

(The abscence of Aginagalde) made it harder for us but no one can say we didn’t fight – said Jurecki and added:

– The memories from Qatar came back. I had a chance to get my team on the lead but he cut in. I congratulate Barcelona. We always fight until the end so we’re not going to let go. The defeat hurts, our dreams were kind of killed, but tomorrow is the 3rd place match and we’ll do everything to win it.
