Rumours linked Ljubomir Vranješ with Icelandic NT bench, but at the end, Iceland will stay “domestic product”. The successor of Aron Kristjanson will be Geir Sveinsson, former NT captain and member for many years.
The 52 years-old Sveinsson left SC Magdeburg last December after 18 months of working in DKB Bundesliga. Previosly, he worked in Austrian Bregenz, but also U21 Icelandic NT.
Sveinsson signed contract until 2018.
Iceland missed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio.
