DREAMS TO COME TRUE IN VESZPREM? The 13th CL TOP 8, but goal stays the same…

Who wants more ticket for VELUX EHF F4 in Cologne than the Hungarian MVM MKB Veszprem? It is not easy to answer correctly on this question when you have only four places and eight teams from five countries who are in the battle for, but there is no team who is waiting longer „big success“ than Hungarian best squad. Veszprem is one of the „handball cities“ on which are handball community so proud. City – handball – strong team – always unbeliavable support of their fans, that is the mix which making from Veszprem one of the leading handball forces in Europe and inspiration…

Clashes with PSG Handball will be the 13th 1/4 finals of the EHF Champions League for Veszprem. This number says enough about of „hunger“ for success in Hungarian handball capital. They have been twice in the semis and one in the final (2002), and nine times are defeated at TOP 8 round. They watched VELUX EHF F4 on TV only in the last four years.

Veszprem’s coach Antonio Carlos Ortega has been in Cologne in May 2013, but as a visitor with his assistant Xavi Sabate. During the matches of four best European teams in 2013 in „Lanxess Arena“, you could see on his face how much he was dissapointed because of defeat against THW Kiel at TOP 8 last season. That match caused a lot of speculations and anger among the Veszprem’s fans on refferes. They have been to close, but still to far…

To be in Cologne, that is the main point of Ortega’s mission in Veszprem, which began in 2012 and totally change the layout and philosophy of Hungarian team with Balkan origin, to the „team of world best players“. On the same way are also Qatari investment – PSG Handball, project which handball needs in big European countries, but who is at the beginning, hopefully, long handball history and future tradition.

Two teams faced eachother in the pre-season three times in three weeks! Veszprem lead 2:1, but the two official matches in the latest part of the season, with the pressure and all things around the court will be something totaly different. Veszprem’s tradition, motivation and experience are the biggest strentgh of one team, but on the other side – you have also world class players and squad which is made to be successful.

Who wil win, how it will be, which song wil be recorded on Cologne’s streets…
