EHF SAY “YES”: Metalurg and Vardar to play TOP 8 at Stadium?

Macedonian TOP teams, RK Vardar and RK Metalurg have got the „green light“ from EHF to play their matches of the VELUX EHF Champions League TOP 8 at the National stadium „Phillip “ in Skopje! Unofficial information from Vienna, where the draw for TOP 8 took place, is that EHF want to support unbeliavable interests of Macedonians after historical success of their two teams and allow them to play in front of three times more spectators than in the biggest sports hall in the country „Boris Trajkovski“, where only about 7.000 fans can watch the matches.

Football Arena „Filip Vtori“ has capacity of 36.500 seats and representatives of two Macedonian teams have already presented plan by which stadium will be adapted for handball match with capacity of 21.000 fans.

The only match of EHF CL which was played on stadium was also at TOP 8 phase, when AG Copenhagen hosted FC Barcelona at „Parken“ in Copenhagen in 2012.

RK Metalurg will face THW Kiel in the first match of TOP 8, while RK Vardar will try to use advantage of home court in second match against SG Flensburg.
