FTC Rail-Cargo are the new queens of Hungary

It’s not the best season of Győri Audi ETO KC. Although they won the Hungarian Cup (they beat FTC 29-23 in March), without Anita Görbicz, Eduarda Amorim and Katrine Lunde they couldn’t qualify for Champions League Final Four to save their title. But no doubt they were the expectants of the Hungarian Championship’s final.

Last week FTC Rail-Cargo denied this. After unbelievable upsets they won 37-36 at home with penalties (you can watch the full match here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln5LbwF_11Y).

The next part of the final was organized in Győr. FTC started better and could control the whole match with Katarina Tomasevic’s brilliant saves, Nerea Pena’s and Zsuzsanna Tomori’s goals. The halftime result was 11-15. Neither Ambros Martin’s emotional timeout helped in the middle of the second half. It seemed their players are already looking forward to the next season and he is the only one who really wants to win this title…

FTC took the chance and won in Győr too (24-26) and got the Hungarian Championship’s trophy. Győr lost the title after seven years.

FTC’s coach, Gábor Elek couldn’t realize that they did it and didn’t find the words to say.
Ambros Martin congratulated to Ferencváros. According to him their weak defense was the reason of these defeats. He said too that this was the hardest season of his career because of the injuries.

Zita Szucsánszki, FTC’s captain: Everybody fought and we deserved this trophy. It was a pleasure to play five years with Zsuzsanna Tomori and wish her all the best in Győri Audi ETO next year.
