Germans close the door for Czech Republic for opening win in Varazdin

Strong last 15 minutes of the opening clash of the Main Round in Varazdin, showed how tough can be to beat European champions like Germany. Czech Republic had brilliant 45 minutes, but in the last 13 minutes, team of Jan Filip sent only one ball behind Andreas Wolff back, which coming to the court in the last 10 minutes was the crucial decision….

At the end – Germany beat Czech Republic 22:19 (9:10) after 60 minutes of tough battle between two strong defensive teams with Heinevetter and Mrkva between the posts.

The best Czech’s goalscorer Cip netted his sixth goal for 18:16 in 47th minute, but that was the beginning of fantastic German series. Christian Prokop boys ended match with 6:1 series which provided them two important points before encounters with Denmark and Spain.

Steffen Fath was TOP scorer in the winning team with eight goals.
