HP asked handball journalists about EHF CL Final4: It’s time for Veszprem!

Three days before the start of the 10th VELUX EHF Champions League Final4 in Cologne, Handball-Planet.com asked 17 handball journalists from all sides of Europe and South America, who will win the trophy at Lanxess Arena?

The first favorites to do that, for the first time in the club’s history, are guys from Veszprem, according to journalists from Russia via Balkan and Scandinavia to Argentina.

Exactly 15 of 17 journalists think that Telekom Veszprem and FC Barcelona Lassa will play at the final on June 2.  Chances are small for the final clashes of Telekom Veszprem – RK Vardar Skopje (1) and FC Barcelona Lassa and PGE Vive Kielce (1) in the opinion of our colleagues.

That new Hungarian champions will take the “HAND” to Veszprem Arena think 11 of 17 journalists. Six of them pick FC Barcelona Lassa as the winners of the most important weekend at the end of the season.

Only one journalist thinks that Veszprem will end the tournament at the bottom (4th place), same for FC Barcelona at the third place.

If we take a look on their prediction about “bronze medal”, 9 of 17 see PGE Vive Kielce as winners, while six of them think that RK Vardar will take the third place.

It could look depressive for all supporters of EHF CL winners 2017 from Skopje, that 9 of 17 journalists think that RK Vardar will finish last.

Calculated in number of points (4 for the winners, 3 for second place, 2 for “bronze” and 1 for the team at the bottom) here is the table.

Telekom Veszprem 4 4 4 3 4 4 4 1 4 4 3 4 4 4 3 3 3 – 60
FC Barcelona 3 3 3 4 3 3 3 4 3 3 4 2 3 3 4 4 4 – 56
PGE Vive Kielce 2 2 1 2 2 1 2 3 2 2 1 1 2 1 2 1 1 – 28
RK Vardar 1 1 2 1 1 2 1 2 1 1 2 3 1 2 1 2 2 – 26

However, Cologne was always a place where anything can happen.

We are waiting for Saturday.
