Macedonia beat Slovenia 25:24 (11:11) in the first match of Group C in Zagreb. A real war has been seen in clash of teams led by Raul Gonzales and Veselin Vujovic. At the end, Lazarov, Stoilov and co, managed to make the first ever win at the start of EHF EURO competitions.
Dejan Manaskov with eight and Kiril Lazarov with seven goals were in the line of the best with Nikolce Mitrevski, goalkeeper who put his team in the lead with series of save (9 in total). Ziga Mlakar netted four goals for Slovenia, while Matevz Skok had 14 saves.
Slovenia had +3 – 11:8, Macedonia 16:12 afterwards a tight finish has been seen in front of 10.000 fans at Arena Zagreb.
