OLYMPIC HANDBALL PREDICTION: French stars to win third gold in a row!

A lot of good teams, but only three places at the medal podium in Rio 2016. A long way 12 Olympic handball teams have to cross to become immortal, written in the legend and history of our sport. However, the Olympic winners according to humble opinion of Handball Planet TEAM – will stay the same, the old ones – France.

THE FRENCH HAT-TRICK

The “Experts” conquered Olympic world in Beijing and London, but still generation led by Claude Onesta has no rivals good enough to beat them on the biggest stage. Maybe Spain, but Spaniards are at home. Nikola Karabatić will prepare a great party for Thierry Omeyer for his Olympic retirement. The bad episode in Poland was just “hungry for success” moment which will be only extra-motivation like it was in London after collapse in Serbia 2012.

The European champions from Poland 2016, Germany, will be the closest to catch the golden way. Dagur Sigurdsson boys showed a great quality in Krakow few months ago, but also they know what is playing under pressure, as all of them coming from the best league in the world – DKB Bundesliga.

Croatia and Sweden will fight for the bronze.  The Croatian coach Zeljko Babic has a team full of Olympic newcomers who are fully motivated to explode in Brazil, like they did at Men’s EHF EURO 2016, when they smashed host team Poland in the most spectacular way. The come-back of Kim Andersson, once again, gives TOP quality and raise ambitions of the Scandinavians.

DANES TO BE STOPPED BEFORE SEMIS?

With Gudmundur Gudmundsson on the bench, Danish handball team looks like “lost in translation”. The successor of legendary Ulrik Wilbek didn’t keep the level of TOP results from the past, disappointing the handball nation in Qatar 2015 (fifth place), but also in Poland 2016 (only Main Round). Without players like Anders Eggert and Rasmus Lauge, Danish chances for the big result looking even smaller. The direct clash in quarter-final against neighbours from Sweden could give an answer about future od Icelandic coach on the Danish bench.

TOP 10 PLAYERS TO WATCH IN RIO

TOP 10 STARS WHO WILL MIS OLYMPIC GAMES

HOME DREAMS LAST UNTIL QUARTER-FINALS

Brazilian team showed great progress in the previous years. However, without big star, Jordi Ribera couldn’t fight with the TOP European squads until the end. HP prognosis is that Brazil will stay one step before semis, even with fans support and traditional refferes’ support. In the same group of teams will be Poland and Qatar, but also Slovenia who will be at the edge of placement to TOP 8.

NO CHANCE FOR AFRICANS AND ARGENTINA

Two African teams at Olympic Games are big thing for the –“Black continent”. However, Tunisia and Egypt aren’t good enough to ensure knock-out stage like Jallouz and Co. did with Allain Porte in London, when they played quarter-final against Croatia. In that group is also Argentina without certainly the biggest star – Diego Simonet.

The Men’s Olympic Tournament starts on August 7 in Future Arena in Rio (capacity 12.000).

Just like about France you can write the same about Polish boys, there is last chance for olimpic medal for many golden veterans like Bielecki, Szmal, Lijewski, Wiśniewski, Jurkiewicz, B.Jurecki etc. they are hungry after bad performance on home soil and extra motivated. Poor judgment I guess is also exclude of Slovenia from the group that can make it to the semifinals. For me every team deserves a credit of trust all in all they came to Rio with the same dream.
