Pick Szeged advance to quarter-final of Hungarian Cup

Pick Szeged visited Balatonfüred yesterday to decide who would face Csurgó in the next round of the Hungarian Cup. This match was supposed to have been played earlier but it was rescheduled. Szeged had many injured players who were out of squad (Ancsin, Parrondo, Kekezovic, Vranjes) while Nikola Prce wasn’t a member of Pick’s squad at the original date of the match so he also couldn’t play. In spite of all these difficulties Pick were the favourites to win and advance to the last 8.

Newest signing Jonas Källman is to arrive this weekend and he may even be able to participate in Pick’s home match on Staurday.

The hosts quickly gained a 3-goal lead (4-1). Pick slowly came closer but they could only equalize in the 21st minute (8-8). Füred were in front again at the end of the first half thanks to very effective play by youngsters Zdolik and Szöllősi (12-11). From Pick Balogh scored the most goals.

In the second half Pick changed the game, more effective defense, better goalkeeping by Tatai and goals from Larholm and Balogh slowly developedd a confident lead. In the end they gained a hard-fought but confident victory.
