Swiss playmaker in the domestic team, Andy Schmid scored two decisive goals in order to gain first points for his team in new format of the VELUX EHF Champions League.
Uwe Gensheimer netted 6, one more than Schmid, and the equal as the best Barca scorer Kiril Lazarov, who missed two 7-meter shots, saved by Darko Stanic.
RK Vardar closed the first week in EHF CL Group P by away win in Montpellier 30:25 (9:12).
