South African 2012 National Championship: Gauteng men and Eastern Cape women are the winners!

Last weekend saw South African handball regions gathering for the annual national championship at Port Elisabeth, Eastern Cape.

Five provinces featured in the men’s competition: Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal. Gauteng was the winner in the men’s tournament defeating Kwazulu Natal, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Western Cape, last year’s champions.

In the women’s tournament instead four provinces played the battle for the title: Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal. Eastern Cape won the title after winning easily against Mpumalanga, Gauteng and a more suffered game against Kwazulu Natal.

Gauteng Province 2012 Men National Champions team: Kgomotso Motetsoe, Michael Dube, Matome Rampyapedi, Lehlogonolo Dlamini,Itumeleng Modise, Themba Dube, Lerato Makgale,Kabelo Makhubo,Trevor Neiwenhout,Phatutsedzo Sibasa,Sizwe Shabangu,Bongani Sibanda,Thabiso Mkhahle,Thamsanqa Vusi,Rapule Thebyane ( coach).
