Spanish national handball team scheduled battle with Slovenia for the first place in Group B in Metz, after a win over Macedonia 29:25 (14:14). Macedonians had 14:11 in the first half and until 18:18 (40th minute), where in balance with the huge favorites – European vice-champions, but in the last part, quality of Jordi Ribera team came in front.
Valero Rivera netted 11 goals from 14 shots to secure fourth win for his team. The Macedonian NT coach Lino Červar was unsatisfied with referees:
- It bothers me that referees didn’t allow us to be in balance in such an important match. However, we made a few mistakes, also we had problem with 5-1 defense and that was decisive – said Cervar for domestic media.
