Unstoppable Ondrej Zdrahala for HP: I just played handball

Ondrej Zdrahala became world-known name in just two weeks of playing at Men’s EHF EURO 2018. Czech Republic’s playmaker, the 35-years old member of average Swiss team St Otmar from Saint Gallen was almost unstoppable in matches of his team. He netted 55 goals in seven matches of the Championship, 14 more than first follower Mikkel Hansen from Denmark. Zdrahala can’t explain his amazing level of handball in Croatia:

  • I don’t know, I just played handball. I scored a lot of goals. We played like a team. We represented us like a team – said Zdrahala for Handball-Planet.com and praised coaching duo Kubes-Filip:

Of course, our coaches working with us last three years. You see how we play now, and how we played in 2014. We can play now against anyone. I hope we will qualify for the World Championship 2019 to continue with this development. Tokyo is still far away. We played only one good tournament. Dream is to play at Olympics, but we will work hard to make this dream true.

Is he ready to change Swiss team for something bigger in the future…

  • We will see what will happen. I am 34 and want to play three more years.

Czech Republic ended at 6th place Men’s EHF EURO 2018. They will meet Russia in Play Off for WCh 2019.
