Veszprém beat Szeged for Hungarian Cup

The Hungarian Cup Final Four was organized in Pécs this weekend. The two top teams, MKB-MVM Szeged and MOL Pick Szeged easily reached the final on Saturday: Veszprém won against Mezőkövesd (28-23) and Szeged beat Vác (34-25).

So in the final Veszprém and Szeged met as in the last three years. Veszprém started better (9-4) but Szeged woke up after Juan Carlos Pastor’s timeout. The teams tended neck by neck, the halftime result was 12-11. In the second half Mirko Alilovic showed a brilliant performance, this made Veszprém possible to reach a bigger difference (21-15). In the 46th minute Vladimir Vranjes destroyed Cristian Ugalde and got a red card. Then evolved a short scuffle, soon after Veszprém could lead and won 26-22. It was their second title in this season after winning SEHA League. Will be the Hungarian Championship or maybe EHF Champions League the next?
