Veszprem’s tough win over Nexe

Telekom Veszprem celebrated against RK Nexe Nasice 27:23 (17:12) their fifth win at SEHA GAZPROM League 2016/2017. However, final results, but all what have been seen during 60 minutes of battle at Veszprem Arena suggest about very good resistance of Croatian team, who showed consistent form during series of matches with TOP teams in regional competition – Meshkov Brest, RK Vardar Skopje and Telekom Veszprem.

Veszprem’s coach Xavi Sabate set line up without Alilovic, Kopljar, Nagy and Ugalde, but other TOP stars had to be on certain level to keep behind motivated Croatian team. Domestic team was on +5 – 9:4 after 11 minutes led by goals of Slovenian line-player Blaz Blagotinsek (the best Veszprem’s scorer with four goals), but their advantage until the end of the first half was only higher ten minutes later, when Aron Palmarsson netted for 14:8.

Aware of the fact that they have nothing to lose against reigning SEHA champions and EHF CL runners-up, guys of Zdenko Kordi, showed strong resistance in the second half, which they even won by one goal.

Nexe were few times on -3 (19:16, 22:19), but there were no enough power for a sensation. Ivan Srsen was TOP scorer with five goals, but the most impressive part of Nexe’s game was defense.
