Second best team in the handball history behing F.C Barcelona, German VfL Gummersbach has got a new home – brand new SCHWALBE Arena with 4200 spectators capacity! The new hall was open last weekend during the tournament in which the final was won by home team over French Montpellier 30:27. The third place won TUSEM Essen with an victory against Austrian Leoben 37:31.
Friendly tournament attracted over 2900 fans to see the matches in the SCHWALBE Arena, but there is no doubt that new hall will be sold out for DKB Bundesliga matches in the upcoming season. This modern object was a dream of many generation of Gummersbach’s fans and that could be a sign for some better days for German team, who is struggling to stay in the German elite in the last two seasons.
Total costs for new hall was about 4.5 million EURO.
