Women’s EHF CL: Gyor and Baia Mare to fight in qualifications

EHF announced the Pots for the Women’s EHF Champions League draw. It looks unexpected that former EHF CL winners Hungarian Gyor will have to win the qualification tournament to reach the chance to play for the trophy again. On that way Hungarian runners-up will have some tough rivals…

Pot 1: Györi Audi ETO KC (HUN), Team Esbjerg (DEN)
Pot 2: Glassverket (NOR), HCM Baia Mare (ROU)
Pot 3: BNTU BelAz Minsk (BLR), Sercodak Dalfsen (NED)

Pot 4: WHC Radnicki Kragujevac (SRB), Ankara Yenimahalle (TUR)

Defending champions in Pot 1

The group matches draw will follow on Friday at 19:15 hrs local time. 14 directly seeded teams plus two qualification groups’ winners will be divided in four pots with four teams in each pot. Teams will not be able to face opponents from the same country in the group.

Buducnost, the defending champions are seeded in the top pot together with last season’s runners-up Larvik, FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria and FC Midtjylland.

Pot 2: HC Vardar (MKD), RK Krim Mercator (SLO), CSM Bucuresti (ROU), Thüringer HC (GER)
Pot 3: Rostov-Don (RUS), IK Sävehof (SWE), Hypo Niederösterreich (AUT), HC Podravka Vegeta (CRO)
Pot 4: Fleury Loiret Handball (FRA), MKS Selgros Lublin (POL)
