Women’s EHF EURO 2010 (Round 1): Great Montenegro, fantastic Norway

Women’s EHF EURO 2010 Round 1 brought some interesting and surprising results. A newcomers, national team of Montenegro won over World champion, Russia 24:22 (10:15), after fantastic second round, when they keep their net empty for more than 10 minutes (13:18 – 19:19). Hero of the day was Montenegrin goalkepper, Sonja Barjaktarović with 14 saves in decisive moments.

In Group “A”, Denmark easily beat Serbia 25:20, same as Romania over Spain 30:26. Mini-surprise is defeat of Germany against Sweden 25:27 and totally disaster of Ukraine against Netherlands – 13:25. This night, fantastic was defending European champion, Norway who beat France – 33:22.

Montenegro – Russia 24:22 Croatia – Island 35:25

Group “C”:
Germany – Sweden 25:27 Netherlands – Ukraine 25:13

Group “D”:
Hungary – Slovenia 28-19 Norway – France 33-22
