EHF Champions League prize money revealed: Winner can earn up to €850,000
The new EHF Champions League and European League formats for the 2026/27 season also bring changes to the prize-money system. The difference at the top is significant – a Champions League winner with a perfect campaign can earn up to €850,000, while the maximum possible income in the European League is €160,000.
In the Champions League group stage, clubs receive €10,000 per match, plus €5,000 for every point won. With six matches, the maximum possible income in this phase is €120,000.
In the Main Round, the appearance fee remains €10,000 per match, while each point is worth €6,250. Over eight matches, teams can earn up to €180,000.
In the quarter-finals, each match brings an appearance fee of €10,000, while a win is rewarded with an additional €15,000 and a draw with €7,500.
A team reaching the EHF Final4 with a perfect record can therefore have already earned €350,000.
The Final4 prize money is:
- Winner: €500,000
- Runner-up: €375,000
- Third place: €250,000
- Fourth place: €125,000
This means that the maximum possible income for the Champions League winner is €850,000.
Last season, FC Barcelona earned €638,000 after winning the competition, with the maximum possible amount under the previous system standing at €648,000.
European League: maximum €160,000
The financial gap to the Champions League remains substantial.
In the European League group stage, clubs receive €3,000 per match and €1,000 per point, meaning a maximum of €30,000 can be earned.
The play-offs, Last 16 and quarter-finals are each worth a maximum of another €10,000.
Prize money at the EHF European League Finals is:
- Winner: €100,000
- Runner-up: €75,000
- Third place: €50,000
- Fourth place: €25,000
A team winning the European League with a perfect record can therefore earn a maximum of €160,000 – almost €690,000 less than the maximum available to the Champions League winner.
