Aalborg Håndbold signs Vetle Rønningen

The Danish champions strengthen their defense with the experienced Norwegian, who will join the club from Skjern Håndbold on a three-year contract for the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old Rønningen began his career in his home country with Bodø HK before moving to German club Bietigheim in 2018. Two seasons later, he joined KIF Kolding, before making his way to Skjern Håndbold in the summer of 2024.

From the upcoming season, the Norwegian will wear the red Aalborg Håndbold jersey, where the physically strong and over two-meter tall line player will primarily strengthen the defense.

“Vetle is a very skilled defensive player, who with his great physique, strength, and mobility, will be an important piece in our defense in the coming seasons,” said director Jan Larsen.

“We see him as an ideal addition to next season’s squad, where he will fill the gap left by Henrik Møllgaard.”

Rønningen himself is also looking forward to continuing his career at Aalborg Håndbold.

“Aalborg is one of Europe’s top clubs, so it wasn’t a difficult decision for me when the opportunity arose. I hope to contribute with strong defense and take on some responsibility in the defense, so together we can secure even more titles for the club,” said Vetle Rønningen, who this season has played 29 matches, scored 10 goals, and made five assists for Skjern Håndbold. He has also earned nine caps for Norway so far in his career.
