In front of nearly 20,000 spectators, Győr started the final brilliantly, forcing Odense to take a timeout at 5-1. Although Danish goalkeeper Reinhardt made several saves, Győr maintained their lead. After a 13-6 scoreline, Lunde replaced Reinhardt and Odense closed the gap with a 4-0 run, prompting a timeout from Per Johansson, which paid off. Győr went into halftime leading 20-15 with well-executed plays.
In the second half, Győr maintained a steady lead (24-19 after ten minutes), but the Danish team fought back persistently. Sako made crucial saves on a penalty and a one-on-one. At 27-23 in the 50th minute, Győr called another timeout. Their offense slowed, but a powerful shot from Housheer provided some relief. Tchaptchet received a red card for a rough foul. Despite late efforts by Odense, they couldn’t close the gap to less than two goals.
