MATHIAS GIDSEL CLAIMS TOP SCORER HONOR, BUT FALLS SHORT IN FINAL

Mathias Gidsel continues to collect individual accolades from tournament to tournament, regardless of the jersey he wears. The brilliant Danish star scored seven goals in the EHF Champions League final (135 in total), becoming the competition’s top scorer by overtaking Mario Šoštarić of Pick Szeged by four goals.

However, this time, his performance wasn’t enough to secure the title. Despite having the best season in club history, his team, Füchse Berlin, ended their journey with a defeat. Magdeburg proved stronger in the final of Europe’s elite competition.

Statistically, Gidsel was the best player on his team in the final, but he missed several chances that could have made the match more dramatic.
