Veszprem calls back Kristóf Palasics

In recent years, our club has often encountered situations where the sudden changes in the player roster meant that recalling currently loaned players could resolve the issue, but this was not possible due to the terms of the loan agreements. The most recent example of this was during Yehia Elderaa’s injury. Therefore, in contrast to previous practices, when Kristóf Palasics was loaned out, a contract was specifically drawn up by the new management in August 2024, which included the possibility of recalling the player under certain circumstances.
In the situation that developed over the past few weeks, our team had to exercise this option. Our Danish goalkeeper, Mike Jensen, who has always been available to the team, indicated during halftime of the Champions League match against Sporting CP (02.20) that he could not continue playing, and then, three days later, during the league match against Budakalász, he was also unable to play.
Afterward, our club took advantage of the international break and sent the player for detailed medical examinations, which confirmed that our goalkeeper’s chronic injury had flared up again. According to expert opinions, it was unanimously concluded that the best solution was for him not to play in the upcoming period and to begin special physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation as soon as possible. This medical procedure is of utmost importance to our club, as Mike Jensen is under contract with us for the next season, and we are doing everything possible to ensure that he can continue his career as a fully fit player.
With one of the most important periods of the season ahead (the Hungarian Cup Final Four, the end of the league’s regular season, and the Champions League quarter-finals), which is crucial to achieving our goals for the season, we had no other choice. After reviewing the diagnosis and the details of the loan agreement, on March 13, 2025, our club officially contacted Benfica and Kristóf Palasics, in accordance with the loan agreement, and recalled the player to his parent club.
On the same day, the Portuguese Federation registered our request for the issuance of the player’s transfer permit, which, according to international regulations, has a fifteen-day processing period. Our club will provide further detailed information after the process is completed.
