Over 21.000 players from 43 countries make unforgetable Partille Cup 2015

Partille Cup 2015 is over and it’s time to look back on a week with a fantastic handball party in the most wonderfully sunny weather.

All together 3 631 matches have been played at 60 playing fields at Heden, Skatås, Kviberg and Valhalla.
Parallell with Partille Cup we’ve also seen 16 national teams (boys born 1996) playing the European Open Championship in Lisebergshallen, Valhalla indoors and Scandinavium.

The Friday night EOC-final saw Iceland as the winner after a tough game against Sweden.

During the Partille Cup-week participants from 43 countries, close to 21 000 players in 1 035 teams have not only been playing handball, they’ve also got to know the city of Gothenburg – visited Liseberg and Universeum, travelled the beautiful archipelago and shopped in Nordstan and other parts of the city.
Totally Partille Cup generates 110 million SEK (11 millions Euros) to the city and is every year regarded as one of the most important events for Gothenburg.
– Is’s been an amazing week and of course we are very please that the weather gods was on our side, says Fredrik Andersson, Partille Cup general secretary.
– Especially at Heden the inhabitants of Gothenburg and all tourists in the city have helped us making this an unforgettable event. Our own calculations shows that close 250 000 people has been visiting Heden during the week.
In 2016 Partille Cup will be played between July 4 and July 9.
– I can honestly say that 2015 has been our best year ever, says Fredrik Andersson. We’ve been working hard to raise quality in everything, from small to big. But of course you are never fully satisfied, we can be even better!
– In our next phase we will focus on being bigger. We want to grow when it comes to the number of teams and participants. We are ready to take that step in 2016.
