For such a small country as Slovenia with only 2.000.000 people, third quarter-final of the World Championship is a great success! That did players led by Veselin Vujovic, who repeated success from Rio, where Slovenians also qualified for the BEST 8 phase.
Slovenia beat Russia 32:26 (13:15) at Paris Bercy ahead of 8.000 fans. Russian squad lost concentration obviously unsatisfied with referees who showed ten minutes more exclusion to their bench. Slovenians played much better defense in second half and that gave result. It was 18:18, but after 5:0 series (three goals of Blaz Janc), everything became much easier for Cingesar (6), Marguc (5), Dolenec, Mackovsek and Co… (4)…
Slovenia now wait for better in clash of Germany and Qatar.
