One of the handball tournament with the biggest tradition in Europe in Macedonian city of Struga will be organised 42nd year in a row! Huge interest for the handball in this Balkan country followed by fantastic results of two men’s teams RK Metalurg and RK Vardar, but also ZRK Vardar as well and Men’s NT, put the handball as sport No.1 in Macedonia. Organizing team is aware of that fact and prepare to raise tournament level up. Open court “Women’s beach” in Struga, on the magnificent Ohrid Lake. The “Struga 2014” will held from August 13 to August 16.
– Our aim is to make further progress in infastructure way and to make all the conditions to become one of the best tournaments in Europe – says tournament secretary, Gjoko Iljoski.
The next step is improving capacity of the stands due fact that tournament is sold-out every summer:
– We don’t have empty seats during tournament. We want to raise capacity on 3.000 seats in upcoming period, but also to make some “easy roof” in order to save court from the rains. Tradition of playing at the open court won’t be changed.
Beach handball tournament is also something about handball people of Struga thinking…
– Yes, we want to help progress of the new handball discipline – concluded Iljoski.
