One of the most popular faces in handball of XXI Century, Siarhei Rutenka announced the end of his playing career! The 35-years old Belarussian left back organized PRESS Conference on which he concludes fantastic 15 years behind him.
Rutenka, born in 1981, began his career in Arkatron Minsk, but a real explosion of his qualities has been seen in Slovenia, where he came to RK Gorenje Velenje and then write the best chapter of RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko history with winning EHF Champions League 2004.
In age of 23, Rutenka became the most wanted guy in European handball, so it was normally to became a member of one of the biggest teams ever – BM Ciudad Real, where he won three EHF Champions League crown before move to FC Barcelona Lassa in famous transfer (1.200.000 fee).
Amazingly good in attack with thousands of solutions in every situation, Rutenka was one of the masterminds for two EHF Champions League titles in six years of playing for Barcelona.
At the end, he decided to try himself in domestic SKA Minsk with two adventures two Qatar.
Six EHF Champions League trophies are something about most of the players can only dream.
Rutenka also played for two national teams – Belarus and Slovenia. With Slovenians, he played at Olympic Games in Athens 2004.
