New 2025-2030 strategic plan for French league

From a sporting perspective, the 2025/2026 season promises to be intense. In the Liqui Moly StarLigue (1st division), an additional European spot is at stake – five in total, potentially a 6th place at the invitation of the EHF, as has been the case for several seasons. In the ProLigue (2nd division), the popular success of the promotion play-offs, a real highlight of last season, led the authorities to renew the formula. All these reasons give hope of reaching a historic milestone: surpassing one million cumulative spectators across all LNH competitions.
A COLLECTIVE ROADMAP FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS
The result of collective work with all stakeholders, clubs, coaches, players and partners, the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan sets five priorities:
- Modernized governance uniting stakeholders around a common project;
- A strong identity, increased visibility and audiences;
- An improved viewer experience to retain, recruit and monetize;
- A shared, structured and value-creating partnership marketing process;
- A business culture serving a strengthened professional handball economy.
The stated objectives are ambitious: to bridge the economic gap with the German championship, to permanently establish a French club on the podium of the two European Cups, and to raise handball to one of the three most visible team sports in France.

Fabrice Boutet, President of the National Handball League: ” We are aiming for a more visible, more competitive, and more responsible handball. A handball capable of attracting major brands, attracting new audiences, and building sustainable and shared growth. To achieve these goals, we must also be willing to innovate in the way we build, tell the story of, and promote professional handball. In particular, the Liqui Moly StarLigue format is not a taboo subject: the introduction of play-offs could represent a strong media and economic opportunity, provided that the physical integrity of the players is preserved. This is one avenue. “
