HOJ ELITE THINK BIG: €14.7M Multi-Arena to Boost Handball and Sports in Egedal

The new multi-arena at Ølstykke Sports Complex is moving closer to reality as Egedal Municipality puts the project out to tender. Egedal Municipality has secured a private donation of about EUR 6.7 million (DKK 50 million) for the multi-arena project. The total cost of the arena is expected to be around EUR 14.7 million (DKK 110 million) covering construction, parking, access roads, and new football pitches.
The arena will be built at the northern end of the complex near Frederikssundsvej and designed for handball at elite level, with space for TV broadcasts and other sports. Associations including Ølstykke Football, Gymnastics, and Egedal Basket have been involved in planning.
The project is tendered as a framework of requirements rather than a finished design, giving contractors flexibility while keeping costs within budget. A contractor is expected to be chosen in spring 2026, with inauguration planned for March 2028.
Local leaders highlight the arena’s importance for handball, wider sports, and cultural life. Mayor Vicky Holst Rasmussen thanked private donors for making it possible, while HØJ Elite’s chair, Helle Rasmussen, called it “crucial” for top handball and community events in Egedal.
