Aalborg Håndbold hires Allan Heine to lead youth department and new academy

The former top coach becomes the new Head of Youth Coaching and Academy at Aalborg Håndbold, where he will also be in charge of the newly established handball academy.

The appointment follows a long preparation period with the specific goal of strengthening youth and talent development at Aalborg Håndbold.

“For a long time, we have been very aware that this is an area where we have the opportunity to improve. At the same time, it was clear to us that we did not want to launch anything unfinished, which is why we are only now ready to reveal the first part of the project,” said Aalborg Håndbold’s team manager, Martin Larsen, who has led much of the process behind the creation of the new academy, expected to be fully established by the summer of 2026.

“The main purpose is to give youth and talent work in the club a boost, but we also hope it will resonate throughout North Jutland and eventually in the whole of Denmark. From the start, we knew it would require a skilled person to head the project, which is why we are very pleased and satisfied to have Allan Heine on board.

He will be responsible for our youth department, including the new academy, ensuring a consistent approach for both coaches and players. Naturally, the goal is also to raise the general level of the youth department.

With his strong competencies, Allan will now help finalize the plans for the academy so that from next summer we can get off to the best possible start,” Larsen added.

Allan Heine himself is also looking forward to the new and exciting challenge.

“I’ve always had a soft spot for handball and especially for the development of young people. Through several good talks with the club, I became increasingly hooked on the idea of giving Aalborg Håndbold’s youth department a significant boost and making it even stronger than it is today.

My dream is that the young people in the club’s environment develop to reach the dreams they have. Whether it’s the first team at Aalborg Håndbold, a club abroad, or something completely different, time will tell—but helping young people make their dreams come true, that’s my goal,” said Allan Heine, who will serve as Head of Youth Coaching and Academy part-time, alongside his position as a handball coach at Sportsefterskolen Aabybro.
