Dmytro Horiha Becomes Macedonian Citizen, Strengthens Vardar’s Squad Flexibility

Good news for the most successful handball team of North Macedonia – RK Vardar 1961.

In the future, another spot for foreign players in the team will be freed up, as Dmytro Horiha has obtained a Macedonian passport. The Ukrainian handballer, who is one of the leaders of this Vardar side, will no longer count toward the eight foreign player slots (or nine during the playoffs). This will be of great help to coach Ivan Čupić, who will now be able to combine more of his foreign stars in the lineup.

Horiha had already been waiting for some time to receive his travel document with Macedonian insignia.

With this, the Ukrainian has also gained the right to represent the Macedonian national team. However, it remains to be seen whether Horiha will become an option for coach Kiril Lazarov in the backcourt line in the future.
