Heuberger departs, Füchse Berlin bring back Frederik Simak

Füchse Berlin have secured the return of Frederik Simak, who will join the German champions from 2026/27 on a three-year contract.

The 27-year-old, who started his Bundesliga career with the Füchse in 2017, returns after six successful years at TBV Lemgo Lippe, where he became a defensive leader and won the DHB-Pokal. In Berlin, Simak is set to strengthen the defense following the departure of Lukas Herburger, while also adding valuable versatility in attack, being able to play both as a left back and as a line player.

Managing director Bob Hanning underlined his value: “Freddy is one of the best defenders in the league and also gives us new attacking options.”

Head coach and sporting director Nicolej Krickau added: “We are bringing a Berliner back, and he fits perfectly into our plans. He has developed a lot in Lemgo and will add both stability and flexibility to our game.”

Frederik Simak: “It feels like coming full circle. I am very happy to return to the club that gave me my first chance in the Bundesliga. I want to give everything for the Füchse, the team, and the fans.”
