Faroe Islands crush Montenegro, Denmark cruise past Romania as Portugal held by North Macedonia

Faroe Islands produced a statement win with a dominant 37:24 victory over Montenegro (19:12 at half-time), powered by a huge goalkeeping performance from Jacobsen (14 saves) and a relentless attack led by O. Mittun (10) and E. á Skipagötu (8/4), while av Teigum added 9.

Denmark kept rolling with a 39:24 win over Romania (22:17 at the break), sparked by K. Möller’s outstanding 17 saves and a balanced scoring spread featuring Gidsel (9), Hoxer (8) and Pytlick (8).

In one of the tightest games of the day, North Macedonia battled Portugal to a 29:29 draw (13:15), with Kuzmanovski exploding for 15 goals to keep his team alive after a gritty second-half fightback. Portugal were led by Francisco Costa (11) but couldn’t close it out.

Hungary also took an important step with a controlled 32:26 win over Italy (14:13 HT), driven by Imre’s 9 goals and strong contributions from Rosta (6) and Hanusz (4), while Ebner’s 13 saves kept Italy competitive for long stretches.

Iceland turned the screw late to beat Poland 31:23 (10:13 at half-time), flipping the match after the break behind Thorkelsson (6) and a deep scorer list, as Poland’s early momentum faded despite solid goalkeeping from Walach (10 saves).

Slovenia beat Switzerland 38:35 after spectacular turnover.
