Kriens-Luzern make history with first Swiss championship title
HC Kriens-Luzern are celebrating the first championship title in the club’s history. A new era in Swiss handball may be beginning with an ambitious team that finished the season with 18 consecutive victories and swept the country’s most dominant club, Kadetten Schaffhausen, 3:0 in the play-off final.
Croatian international Marin Šipić once again shone in the third match of the final series, scoring 11 goals. He was well supported by Radojica Čepić with six goals and Miloš Orbović with three.
For the defeated side, Luka Maros was outstanding with 14 goals, but even his performance was not enough to help Kadetten keep their hopes alive and extend the final series. The match also marked the farewell of coach Hrvoje Horvat, who is leaving the club to take over Zagreb.
