A Sleeping Giant Awakens: Wybrzeże Gdańsk Win Polish Bronze

A great story from northern Poland is back!
The legendary club of the 1980s, two-time European Champions Cup finalist in 1986 and 1987, PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk, has secured a place among the top three teams in Poland for the first time in 25 years.
The ten-time Polish champion claimed bronze in the domestic championship with a 33:24 victory over Ostrovia. The scale of emotion surrounding the achievement was clear in the ERGO Arena, where 6,419 spectators set a new attendance record for a single match in the Polish league this season.
This was no coincidence. The team from Gdańsk also reached the Polish Cup final this season under the guidance of former national team coach Patryk Rombel.
The EHF European League will be the next big chapter for the Gdańsk side. Their last Polish championship title came in 2001.
