Veszprem Handball stay with title sponsor in season 2026/2027

In recent months, following the change of government in Hungary, there have been reports suggesting that Veszprém could face financing problems in the future. However, the club’s statement confirming that its main sponsor will remain appears encouraging.

One Magyarország and Veszprém Handball Team Zrt. have extended their strategic cooperation for another year. With the continuation of the partnership, the telecommunications company will remain alongside the club as naming main sponsor, while the team will once again enter the 2026/27 season with a strong squad. In the new season, three high-profile signings will also represent the club on the domestic and international stage – Emil Nielsen, Lukas Jørgensen and Bence Imre.

As part of the cooperation between One Magyarország and Veszprém Handball Club, the team continued competing in domestic and international competitions under the name One Veszprém HC at the beginning of 2025. A few months later, the club’s home also took the name of the naming sponsor, and today welcomes fans as the One Veszprém Arena. The cooperation has now reached another milestone: the parties have extended their strategic partnership by one year.

For the 2026/27 season, One Veszprém HC have assembled a highly competitive squad. During the transfer period, the club strengthened the team with three key players. Danish goalkeeper Emil Nielsen, regarded as one of the best in the world, joins the club with an extraordinary record of success behind him: he is an Olympic, world and European champion, as well as a two-time Champions League winner.

Danish international Lukas Jørgensen joins the squad at line player. With the Danish national team, he has won all major international titles – Olympic, world and European gold. The player, who was also selected for the All-Star Team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is regarded as one of the most outstanding young handball players in his position.

On the right wing, Bence Imre arrives after being named Hungary’s Male Handball Player of the Year in 2024. The young winger plays an important role in the Hungarian national team, has gained significant international experience and is considered one of the most promising talents in Hungarian handball.

At the same time, the club continues to place special emphasis on strengthening the role of Hungarian players and developing its youth system. Alongside the international stars, the squad includes domestic players such as Patrik Ligetvári, János Dániel Barna and Máté Gáncs-Pető, who is joining the Champions League squad and serves as further proof that the most talented players from Veszprém’s youth academy can reach the senior team.

Dr Csaba Bartha, CEO of Veszprém Handball Team Zrt., said:

“It is a great joy and honour for us that One Magyarország’s trust in our club remains unwavering and that they continue to stand by our team as naming partner. This strategic cooperation not only provides stability and predictability for our club, but also confirms the joint work we have carried out together over the past years. We greatly appreciate our partner’s commitment, which enables us to continue fighting for the highest goals, while also continuing to build the club in every area – from the senior team to the youth academy. We trust that our shared story will be enriched with further successes and memorable moments in the coming year as well.”

“One has committed itself to a community whose operation is defined by the same values as our company: the pursuit of excellence, continuous development, unity and long-term thinking. The past two years have proved that together we are capable of creating value in sport and beyond. We are proud that the One name will continue to be associated with one of Hungary’s most successful men’s handball clubs and its home, and that we can work together toward future successes. It is a particular pleasure for us to have been part of the process in which the club strengthened its squad with such outstanding players. We are excited to see what new successes this team can achieve next season,” said Tamás Bányai, CEO of One Magyarország.

In the 2026/27 season, One Veszprém HC will once again aim to defend the Hungarian league title and the Hungarian Cup, while in the revamped EHF Champions League their goal is to go as far as possible among the strongest teams.
