Montpellier keep Porte until 2029, Srna until 2031

Montpellier Handball have secured the long-term futures of two important players, extending the contracts of captain Valentin Porte and Croatian international Zvonimir Srna.
Porte, who joined Montpellier in 2016, has signed a new two-year deal and will stay with the French club until June 2029.
“I am very happy to stay at the club until 2029. I hope that on the final day of my contract I will still be in as good shape as I am today. You can count on me – I will give everything, just as I have done since my first day in Montpellier,” said Porte.
The experienced French international admitted that Srna’s decision to stay was also an important factor.
“Knowing that Zvone had extended his contract confirmed my feeling that I wanted to stay. There is also the family aspect, but also the sporting project and the team that could take shape next season.”
Srna has committed his future to Montpellier for even longer, signing a three-year extension that will keep him at the club until June 2031.
“I am very happy in France, in Montpellier, and very happy to have extended my contract. I hope we will continue to win trophies, as we did last season,” said the Croatian international.
Montpellier president Julien Deljarry described Porte as a future club Hall of Famer, while head coach Erick Mathé stressed the importance of keeping players of Srna’s calibre despite interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.
“It is a very good thing that international-class players feel good in Montpellier, want to stay here and do not give in to calls from the biggest European clubs,” Mathé said.
