Montpellier Shakes Up French Handball: Super Cup Triumph Over PSG

A new balance of power in French handball may have been hinted at in the outcome of the Super Cup match, where Montpellier convincingly defeated one of its two biggest domestic rivals—Paris Saint-Germain—29:23. The new coach of PSG, Dane Stefan Madsen, did not have a successful debut in front of 4,500 spectators, while for Montpellier this is their first trophy since 2019.
The two-time EHF Champions League winner (2003 and 2018) will once again not be competing this season in Europe’s most prestigious club competition, where France will be represented by PSG and Nantes.
