In the last four matches of the EHF VELUX Champions League, the big derby between Atletico Madrid and THW Kiel was played in Vistalegre Arena, Madrid. With constant lead throughout the whole game, firstly at half time with 17:15, THW Kiel managed to hold onto the lead and in the end with nice five goals difference, 32:27 the final score. This can be considered a sort of revenge for the defeat at the Club World Cup in Doha, where Atletico beat THW in the final.
From the other games, Metalurg Skopje prepared the biggest surprise of the round. Against Chambery which has the Gille brothers this season, the Skopje-based team took a 33:30 victory. Vive Kielce had no problems at home against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg winning 35:26, while Fuchse Berlin only in the final minutes managed to break Dinamo Minsk and win a match in which they were huge favorites, in the end 29:25 for the “Foxes”.
