Daniel Gordo and BM Ademar Leon to part ways

Daniel Gordo will bring his second spell at Ademar to an end at the conclusion of the season.

The coach from Valladolid will say goodbye to the León team after three years in charge when the current campaign ends.

The club from León has announced that Daniel Gordo will end his second stint as head coach of Abanca Ademar León at the end of this season, after three years leading the team.

Gordo joined Ademar in 2007 to work within the youth academy structure and won the Spanish youth championship a year later. He served as assistant coach to Manolo Cadenas with the first team, and after Cadenas’ departure—during the club’s severe financial crisis which nearly led to its disappearance—he took over the senior team for two seasons.

After that, he had several international experiences: he coached in the Faroe Islands, earned promotion to Liga ASOBAL with Viveros Herol BM Nava and kept them in the top division, and later had short spells with Meshkov Brest in Belarus and Al Ahly in Egypt, as well as leading two senior national teams, Brazil and more recently Turkey.

Under his guidance, Ademar returned to European competition after a break, reaching the European League qualification round against Portuguese side ABC Braga, and securing a place in the current season after finishing as runners-up in the Copa del Rey.
