The last teams to participate in the EHF Champions League quarter-finals are known. Vive Kielce beat Pick Szeged at home with 32:27 and have therefore overcome the one-goal deficit from the first game. Thorir Olafsson led the Polish team with eight goals.
Barcelona did not play as we are used to see them, but the 6-goal lead from the first game in Denmark made them feel comfortable going into this one. This has therefore resulted in only two-goal victory over Bjerringbro-Silkeborg with 26:24 (12:13). Rutenka scored nine goals for FCB, while Mortensen was BSV’s best with eight goals.
Atletico Madrid won against Fuchse Berlin in was definitely the highlight today. In a thriller-game, Atletico Madrid scored a 27:26 victory, with Kiril Lazarov scoring the winning goal. Fuchse Berlin had the final attack and a draw would have been sufficient to see them qualify, but Jaszka’s shot went past the post. Lazarov with six was top scorer for Atletico Madrid, but game’s top scorer was Konstantin Igropulo with eight.
THW Kiel were the final team to qualify to the quarter-final after they have won by four goals (30:26) in tonight’s game against Russian champion Chekhovski Medvedi.
