Slovenian champion RK Gorenje Velenje began preparation for the upcoming season in which will face with the new challenges in domestic competition and EHF Champions League as well with the new coach, Ivan Vajdl and some new players as Bosnian Buric brother (Senjamin and Benjamin), experienced line player Marko Ostir and Slovenian topscorer last season, Jernej Papez.
Slovenian champion has lost some important players as goalie Ivan Gajic (Trembley), Jure Dolenec, Matej Gaber, Fahrudin Melic, etc, so it will be difficult to defend title third year in a row in competition with RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko, the only serious rival in the upcoming season, after RK Cimos Koper dissapeared from the handball scene…
New condition coach is Danish goalkeeper Morten Seier, who already played in Velenje from 2006 till 2008. After that Seier played in Poland at Orlen Wisla Plock.
