Legendary Macedonian football player, Darko Pancev, put all Macedonian sports fans and handball community on fire with the interview for BBC Serbia in which he made some weird comparison between football and handball.
“Comparing handball to football is like comparing a professor from a high school in Skopje to Einstein. So, who watches handball in Europe? Our people are eager for success – if we were to play the European Bowling Finals and have a big ballroom, it would be full. But when did you see ten kids gather in the schoolyard and play handball? They don’t play anything today, maybe football or basketball, ”Pancev said.
The Vardar handball players have twice climbed to the top of Europe in 2017 and 2019.
