Famous OAKA Arena in Athens to host EHF Challenge Cup Final

Big news for all those involved in Greek handball, but also very important sign for the whole European handball community that some things going better in Greece. The famous OAKA Arena (called “Nikos Galis” in the honour of famous basketball player from 80’s) in Athens will be the venue of the EHF Challenge Cup Final match between A.E.K Athens and Romanian Potaissa Turda on May 20.

OAKA was open in 1995, it was used for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, but since opening, it was never used as handball court, write greekhandball.gr!

With its capacity of 19.250 seats, OAKA will be the second biggest hall which is currently used in handball world. The biggest one is the home of VELUX EHF Champions League Final 4 – Lanxess Arena in Cologne (19.500).
