The Icelander national team player Fannar Thor Fridgeirsson (25) will no longer be playing in the second German Bundesliga, as he signed a contract with HSG Wetzlar, the club’s website announced. After spending two seasons in Emsdetten, previously playing for Valur Reykjavik, this can mean a big move in his career towards top-class handball, as the Bundesliga holds the title of being the most quality league in the world. “I’m happy to come here, I find the city of Wetzlar and the RITTAL Arena wonderful, and I can’t wait for the first homegame against HSV Hamburg at the end of August. The first impression of Kai Wandschneider (Wetzlar’s coach) is absolutely positive” – said Fridgeirsson in his first interview for the club’s website.
